Juat For Fun!
I love throwing big Victorian Tea Parties. They’re a bit of whimsy, a bit of pretend and a lot of playing dress up! Here’s a few pictures from a couple that I threw . I might just have read one too many Victoria magazines, do you think?

In Japan, they have the most romantic tradition. In the spring, the media posts updates on where the latest blooming cherry blossom trees can be found, like our ski reports on fresh snow levels. Then people travel from place to place to picnic under the trees and admire the glory of the blossoms. Isn’t this the most wonderful tradition? I decided to have my own “Ode to the Cherry Blossoms” luncheon. Here’s some pictures.

On EBay I kept buying used obi { is the plural of obi obis or just obi?} from Japan. I’m talking a LOT of used obi. I got a lot of curiosity and questions about what an American could possibly want with so many obi. They are very polite, and I don’t think usually ask a lot of questions, but this was too much for even the most proper of Japanese sellers. It was an experience just having the correspondence from the different Japanese sellers. I think that they were thinking;”crazy Americans” but were too polite to say so.

Oh my goodness, Barb – you are a woman after my own heart! These parties are fabulous.
I bet you never ask me any questions again!!!

I am over the top in the imagination dept.
These sorts of things just feed some inner romantic in me!

How fun! I love how everybody got into the dress up part! You should play croquet after your tea…
Gorgeous! And, I like what you did with the obi, too.
Rachel-We did play crocket
Great pictures of the tea party! Although does Micah know you have a shot with her mouth full? HAHA! Sarah’s adorable!
Micah would kill me!! Shush, don’t tell! Wasn’t Sara adoeable as my little Geisha? I tried to get her to say some Japanese phrases, but it was too much to ask of a little shy kid.
Wish that I were there!!!
Me too! That was several years ago, I did one each spring in the garden. Not up to it anymore. Maybe someday.
